이날 간담회에는 한인회 등 동포단체 관계자, 민주평화통일자문회의 위원, 경제인, 교육·과학·문화·종교계 인사, 입양동포 등 다양한 분야의 동포 50여 명이 참석했다.
임은희 벨기에한인회장은 환영사에서 "벨기에 동포사회가 현지에서 신뢰받는 작지만 단단한 공동체로 성장할 수 있었던 것은 모국 대한민국의 발전과 위상이 뒷받침해 준 덕분이라 생각한다"며, "유럽의 심장 벨기에를 방문하신 대통령님의 이번 방문이 큰 결실을 맺기를 바라며, 동포사회도 양국간 가교 역할에 더욱 힘쓰겠다"고 말했다.
