[사건의내막 / 문홍철 기자] = 이재명 대통령은 7일(현지시간) 프랑스 남부 생폴드방스에서 열린 '뤼미에르 서밋'에 초청된 한국 창작자들과 함께 '넥스트 씬, K-콘텐츠의 내일을 말하다' 간담회를 가졌다고 강유정 청와대 수석대변인이 서면 브리핑을 통해 전했다.
이번 행사는 국제 무대에서 활약하며 한국 영화의 위상을 높이고 있는 창작자들을 격려하고 영화·영상 산업 현장의 목소리를 듣기 위해 마련됐다.
간담회에는 영화 박하사탕·오아시스 등을 연출한 이창동 감독, 도라·다음 소희 등을 연출한 정주리 감독, 드라마 들쥐와 영화 해운대·실미도 등에 출연한 설경구 배우, 영화 밀양·사마귀 등에 출연한 전도연 배우, 영화 도라에 출연한 김도연 배우, 넷플릭스 아시아 태평양 지역(인도 제외) 콘텐츠를 총괄하는 김민영 부사장이 참석했다.
이창동 감독이 연출하고 설경구·전도연 배우가 출연한 영화 '가능한 사랑'은 베니스국제영화제 경쟁부문에 초청됐고 아카데미 한국 출품작으로 선정됐다. 정주리 감독이 연출하고 김도연 배우가 출연한 영화 '도라'는 칸 영화제에 초청된 바 있다.
이 대통령은 참석자들과 최근 K-콘텐츠의 세계적 흥행으로 달라진 현장의 분위기와 성과를 지속하기 위해 필요한 과제 등에 대해 의견을 나눴다.

이어 "한국과 프랑스가 5억 유로씩 출연을 해서 공통의 출자금을 만들고 각자의 영화 영상 산업에 투자를 하는데 필요하면 공동 제작이나 협업도 할 수 있게 그렇게 만들어가려고 합의를 했다"라고 말했다.
이 대통령은 특히 독립·예술 영화와 순수 문화예술 분야에 대한 공공 지원 필요성을 강조했다.
이 대통령은 "독립 영화나 순수 문화 예술 분야는 사실 많이 소외되고 있고 거기서 종사하는 그 수많은 사람들이 매우 생계에 어려움을 겪거나 고통을 겪는 상황들이 있다"라며 "문화예술 현장에서 일하시는 많은 분들이 상상했던 것 이상의 체감되는 정책들을 시행하게 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
이어 "독립 예술 분야라든지 또는 순수 문화 분야 이런 부분들에 대해서 소재를 발굴하고 작가를 키우고 제작을 지원하고 유통을 지원하고 그리고 국제 경쟁이 가능하도록 펀드도 만들어서 함께 투자하고 투자를 유치하고 하는 이런 일들을 정부 단위에서 이제 본격적으로 해야 된다고 생각한다"라고 말했다.
그러면서 "지금 현장에 계신 우리 문화예술인들에게 새로운 희망 기회를 만들어 드리고 싶다"라며 "그게 대한민국의 진정한 힘, 에너지, 잠재력이 폭발하는 계기가 될 것이라고 믿는다"고 했다.
한국 문화의 향후 성장 가능성에 대해서도 기대감을 나타냈다.
이 대통령은 "드디어 대한민국에 기회가 왔다는 생각이 든다"라며 "전 세계가 대한민국을 쳐다보고 있죠. 기대도 엄청나게 크다"고 말했다.
이어 "가장 개인적인 것, 가장 독창적인 것, 이런 게 각광을 받는 거에요. 가장 한국적인 게 가장 경쟁력이 있죠"라며 "우리 자신이 가지고 있는 남들이 갖지 못한 그러한 독특한 개성 넘치는 특수함, 이런 것들이 사실 우리의 자산"이라고 강조했다.
이 대통령은 간담회 이후 '뤼미에르 서밋' 공식 오찬에 참석했다.
오찬에는 에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령 부부를 비롯해 각국 문화 장관과 국제기구 인사, 영화·영상 기업 및 단체 대표, 감독·배우 등 창작자 200여명이 참석했다.
