이재명 대통령 을지 NSC 전체회의 주재

[사건의내막 / 문홍철 기자] = 이재명 대통령은 18일(화) 을지 국가안전보장회의(NSC) 전체회의를 주재하여 전시상황을 대비하여 국가 총력전 수행 능력과 기관별 전시 전환 절차, 조치사항 등을 점검했다고 강유정 수석대변인이 서면 브리핑했다.

강 대변인에 따르면 이날 회의에는 이재명 대통령 주재로, 한성숙 국무총리, 조현 외교부 장관, 정동영 통일부 장관, 안규백 국방부 장관, 윤호중 행정안전부 장관, 이종석 국가정보원장, 위성락 국가안보실장, 강건작 국가안보실 1차장, 송기호 국가안보실 3차장, 진영승 합동참모본부 의장 등이 참석했다.

회의에서 이 대통령은 “싸울 필요가 없는 평화를 만드는 것이 무엇보다 중요하나 최악의 상황도 대비가 필요한 만큼, 비상사태에 우리 국민을 보호하고 국가안전 보장을 위한 실질적인 연습이 되도록 을지연습을 진행해 줄 것”을 당부했다.

또한 “을지연습은 우리 국민의 생명과 안전을 지키는 방어적 성격으로, 우리는 이를 통해 북한을 공격하거나 한반도의 긴장을 높이려는 의도가 없음”을 분명히 했다.

나아가 이 대통령은 “을지연습을 기존에 하던 대로 반복하지 말고, 최근 전쟁 양상을 반영하여 현실에 맞는 국가총력전 차원의 실질적인 대비 연습이 되도록 준비하여 어떠한 상황이 발생하더라도 국민을 보호할 수 있는 대비태세를 갖출 것”을 지시했다.
