[사건의내막 / 문홍철 기자] = 정부는 6일 호남권 반도체 산업단지를 광주 군 공항 부지에 조성하기로 결정했다. 또 용인 반도체 팹 10기 투자가 빠른 속도로 추진될 수 있도록 전반적인 일정을 최대한 앞당기기로 했다.
강훈식 대통령비서실장은 이날 오전 이재명 대통령 주재로 열린 '반도체 클러스터 민관합동 점검회의' 결과 브리핑에서 이 같이 밝혔다.
강 비서실장은 먼저 호남권 반도체 투자와 관련해 "기업들은 호남권 입지 후보지 중 광주 군 공항이 가장 적합하다는 의견을 제시했다"며 "광주 군 공항 지역은 약 250만 평 규모의 부지 확보가 가능하고 공항 특성상 이미 평탄화가 완료돼 있는 만큼 부지 공사 기간을 최소화할 수 있다는 장점이 있다"고 설명했다.
이어 "광주 도심, KTX 역과 인접해 인력 확보, 정주 여건 측면에서도 강점이 있으며 도로, 공항, 항만 등과 연계한 물류 접근성도 우수한 것으로 검토됐다"면서 "정부는 관계부처 협의를 거쳐 조속히 후보지 선정 절차를 마무리하고 산단 개발을 위한 후속 절차에 착수하겠다"고 말했다.
강 비서실장은 용인 반도체 클러스터와 관련해 "기업의 요청에 따라 당초 계획된 팹 10기 투자가 훨씬 빠른 속도로 추진될 수 있도록 토지 보상부터 전력, 용수 공급까지 전반적인 일정을 최대한 앞당기기로 했다"며 "용인 일반산단이 내년 가동을 시작하는 만큼 용인 국가산단도 가동 일정을 최대한 앞당겨 글로벌 반도체 초과 수요에 빠르게 대응하기로 했다"고 말했다.
아울러 "기업들은 전력과 용수 등 핵심 인프라뿐 아니라 우수 인력 확보 방안과 주거, 교통, 교육 등 정주 여건 개선에 대해서도 다양한 건의를 제시했고, 관계 장관들은 이를 지속 검토해 나가기로 했다"고 덧붙였다.
이날 회의에서는 3대 메가프로젝트 신속 추진을 위한 전담 체계 구축 방안도 논의됐다고 강 비서실장은 전했다.
강 비서실장은 "당분간 오늘과 같은 대통령 주재 민관합동 점검회의를 매달 개최하기로 했다"며 "반도체 클러스터뿐만 아니라 지역별 3대 메가프로젝트 핵심 추진 상황을 하나하나 점검해 나가기로 했다"고 말했다.
이어 "대통령께서 청와대에 전담 기구를 두고 직접 챙기겠다고 하신 만큼 중량감 있는 인사를 임명해 메가프로젝트 전반에 관한 과제별 진도 점검과 부처별 이견 조정 등을 총괄하게 한다는 데 의견을 모았다"고 부연했다.
끝으로 강 비서실장은 "메가프로젝트는 이제 시작이다"라며 "기업의 투자 계획이 실제 완공으로 이어질 수 있도록 정부가 끝까지 챙기겠다"고 강조했다.
한편, 이날 회의는 지난달 29일 청와대 영빈관에서 개최된 '대한민국 대도약 3대 메가프로젝트 국민보고회'와 서남권, 충청권, 영남권에서 잇달아 열린 '첨단산업 발전비전 국민보고회'에서 발표된 반도체, AI데이터센터 등 대규모 투자계획에 대한 후속 조치를 정부와 기업이 함께 논의하기 위해 마련됐다.
