이번 협력은 통상 일반쓰레기로 분류돼 버려지는 PVC 폐벽지가 재활용될 수 있는 새로운 길을 열 것으로 기대된다. 현재 대부분 가정에서 도배지로 사용되는 실크벽지는 재생 원료로 재활용될 수 있는 유용한 자원이지만 수거 시스템 부재 및 다른 물질과 함께 혼합으로 배출돼 전량 소각되고 있다.

협약 내용에 따라 화성시는 PVC 폐벽지의 올바른 분리배출 실천과 확산을 위한 시민 홍보 및 교육 및 정책 수립을 추진하고, 공동주택 내 발생한 폐벽지를 수거해 화성시 자원화시설(팔탄면 고주리)에 보관 후 재활용 업체 성지에 인계한다.
